چکیده
Specific three-point hydrogen bonding between diamidopyridine (DAP) and thymine (Thy) was employed to reversibly anchor "brush-like" Tri-DAP end-functionalized polystyrene onto Thy-modified silica surfaces.

Cucurbit[8]uril directed stimuli-responsive supramolecular polymer brushes for dynamic surface engineering.
In situ modification of surfaces with thin layers of polymers is of growing interest as adjustment of surface properties can be made on demand. We present herein a supramolecular 'grafting to' polymer brush via the recognition of surface-bound cucurbit[8]uril (CB[8]) rotaxanes towards end-functionalised polyethylene glycol (PEG). This dynamic supramolecular method represents advantages over tra...
متن کاملAdaptive and responsive surfaces through controlled reorganization of interfacial polymer layers
The present manuscript offers an overview of the current state of affairs within the research field of adaptive and environmentally sensitive polymer surfaces designed to respond to external stimuli in a controlled and predictable manner. Intensive study in the field of the adaptive/responsive surfaces began several decades ago in an attempt to understand relationships between bulk properties/c...
متن کاملSupramolecular polymer adhesives: advanced materials inspired by nature.
Due to their dynamic, stimuli-responsive nature, non-covalent interactions represent versatile design elements that can be found in nature in many molecular processes or materials, where adaptive behavior or reversible connectivity is required. Examples include molecular recognition processes, which trigger biological responses or cell-adhesion to surfaces, and a broad range of animal secreted ...
متن کاملMolecular Recognition‐Mediated Transformation of Single‐Chain Polymer Nanoparticles into Crosslinked Polymer Films
We describe single-chain polymer nanoparticles (SCNPs) possessing intramolecular dynamic covalent crosslinks that can transform into polymer films through a molecular recognition-mediated crosslinking process. The SCNPs utilise molecular recognition with surface-immobilised proteins to concentrate upon a substrate, bringing the SCNPs into close spatial proximity with one another and allowing th...
متن کاملSwitchable friction using contacts of stimulus-responsive and nonresponding swollen polymer brushes.
Stimulus-responsive (SR), solvated polymers can switch between an expanded state and a collapsed state via external stimuli. Using molecular dynamics simulations, I show that such SR polymers can be employed to control the frictional response between two opposing polymer brushes in relative sliding motion. By using a brush composed of SR polymers in contact with a nonresponding solvated polymer...
